Compassionate inquiry

The purpose of the Compassionate Inquiry is to drill down to the core stories people tell themselves – to get them to see what story they are telling themselves unconsciously; what those beliefs are, where they came from; and guide them to the possibility of letting go of those stories, or letting go of the hold those stories have on them …

That’s what Compassionate Inquiry is.”

Gabor Maté

What is compassionate inquiry?

Compassionate Inquiry (CI) is a trauma-informed & somatic psychotherapeutic approach which allows for emotions to be expressed that have once been suppressed.

CI is developed by Dr Gabor Maté & Sat Dharam. I completed the initial year long CI training (240 hours) in February 2023.

I am currently a mentee in the Mentorship Programme (masters programme of CI) which started February 2024.

CI is an expressive therapy. In this therapeutic approach, we connect on a deeper level to your body, sensations and emotions.

This allows for you as a client to recognise the limiting beliefs, defenses or stories that you may have carried and internalised since childhood.

We work to transform those beliefs through awareness and through the connection to myself as the practitioner and yourself, the client, in the present moment.

Through this discovery you as a client can move in to a new possibility of being, live more consciously and authentically and with compassion.

Compassionate Inquiry has changed my life and I fully believe it can change yours too, whatever you may be going through.

A.H. Almaas — 'Only when compassion is present will people allow themselves to see the truth.'

The CI approach is for:

  • People who are tired of repeating the same patterns, over and over again.

  • For those who are ready and willing to make changes to their outlook of life.

  • It is for those that want to learn to re-connect to their bodies and emotional states.

  • The approach is for people who want to live in the present moment, learn to take responsbility and live more consciously.
